Kim is an oil painter who embraces the dynamic interplay of light and shadow in her work. She is inspired by the dramatic tension that occurs between the energizing clarity of light and the mysterious, more ambiguous aspects of shadow. She believes when she achieves the right balance of this yin and yang in her paintings, ordinary things can appear intriguing or unusual, and beautiful things can be portrayed in a heroic way.
Kim works in a range of genres -- landscape, architecture, interiors, and still life, often painting on copper panels to enhance the vibrance of her work. Kim has been painting for almost fifteen years and maintains a studio at Spring City Mill Studios in northern Chester County. She studied painting, drawing, and sculpture extensively at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, and holds a Certificate in Floral Design from Longwood Gardens.
