Kim Hoechst
For Kim, painting is an opportunity to transform fleeting visual experiences, perceptions andmemories into something elevated, tangible and more permanent. By organizing colorrelationships, form, light and shadow into an atmospheric and believable visual experience for theviewer, she seeks to convey her point of view and express a sensory response to her surroundings.Kim is inspired by striving to capture how light defines and transforms interior spaces; how it poursthrough windows and illuminates the views outside them; and how it adds interest or brings dramato everyday objects composed to create an engaging still life.
Kim has been an artist for over eighteen years. She built the foundation of her skills throughextensive study at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia. More recently, she hasbeen engaged in individual critiques with Peter Van Dyck, a Philadelphia-based artist and teacherwho was educated at The Florence Academy of Art in Italy. Her work with Peter has guided her inher quest to embrace contemporary painting practices and continue to evolve as a painter.
